From the Publisher

Press Release:

PUBLICATION OF THE FIRST ANTHOLOGY OF POETRY BY THREE INDONESIAN POETS

A Jar of Pickles, a potpourri of poems written in English by three contemporary Indonesian poets—namely: Gerda Hutapea-Silitonga, Manneke Budiman and Nad (aka the Tjipoetat Quill)-—has just been published and will be available at major bookstores in Indonesia, prefaced by a well known Indonesian literary scholar and critic, Melani Budianta, who has given very encouraging remarks and commendation.

“Their joint authorship has amassed from the English literary tradition and presented something fascinating to the global world.”

Is it too early and too presumptuous to ask whether the poems in this anthology are ready for that global game? Or should we just approach this anthology in a more relaxed and unassuming way, enjoying them as very fine creative exercises of ardent poets?

Nobody has the answer for sure, but the likelihood is great that fellow writers, poets, critics, advanced English language learners and teachers, or poetry enthusiasts will appreciate this volume. We are proud to have played a part in the processes that gave birth to this one of its kind publication.
